About Us

Our Story

It started in 2017 with a retired salesman named Rick, on his knees before the Lord, praying for a work of God in our city. The Lord led Rick to an outreach event in Orlando, where he met some leaders from Time to Revive. Rick and a few Tampa pastors worked with Revive through 2018 to run a personal evangelism campaign in the Apollo Beach area that fall.

In January of 2019 around a dozen pastors came together for our first three day prayer summit. Word began to spread as pastors met and prayed, leading to another prayer summit in 2020. In the summer of 2020 a leadership team was formed and met several times to articulate our mission, vision and values. Through 2021 and ’22 the team clarified our strategy, identifying five key initiatives to reach the Bay area with the gospel. In 2025, we officially launched Church United to exist as a resource for and function of the church in Tampa Bay. Prayer undergirds and surrounds everything we do, and we praise God for the growing movement of worship and prayer in our region!

Founded on prayer, we are focused on the vision of gospel saturation – that “the knowledge of the glory of the Lord” (Hab. 2:14) would fill Tampa Bay! That is our end game and target – that every man, woman and child in our region would experience the love and grace of Jesus.

Church United Tampa Bay, Inc. exists to serve the cause of unity for the sake of mission and the cause of mission for the sake of unity. We exist as a resource for and function of the church in Tampa Bay. We believe the church is both one and many, that God has chosen to express the life of his people through the vehicle of his church which is, like the God who gives it life, both plural and one; localized and unified. We believe in the power and purpose of the local church to carry out the mission of God but also believe that there is one church in every region and that the pursuit and relational commitment to that unity is essential to please, glorify, and bear witness to Jesus Christ and the good news of his kingdom.
